VI COMMANDO

Prt. Derek Charles Ellis, formerly of the Shrosphire Regiment, served with No.1 (later No.101) Troop of No.6 Commando from 1940 (in Scarborough) until, at least, 13^th March 1942.

He later joined No.2 Special Boat Section, where he was promoted at first to Corporal (during which time he was awarded the Military Medal for his actions during the Operation Torch North African Landings on 8^th November 1942) and then to Sergeant.
